Architectural Design & Technology
The architecture field continues to grow as new technologies and modern building methods create fresh opportunities in design and construction. Architectural technicians play an important role by supporting architects and other professionals in planning and developing detailed residential and commercial projects. Architecture programs at Rumi Academy prepare students for this evolving industry through practical training and hands-on experience with current architectural tools and technology.
If you’re interested in building design and want to begin a career in the architectural sector, here is an overview of the training options available.
Architecture Courses
Architecture programs generally fall into two main categories:
Architectural Technician
These two-year diploma programs prepare students to work alongside architects, engineers, contractors, and other construction professionals. Students learn to create construction drawings, specifications, and design documents using modern computer-aided design tools. Training includes drafting, building codes, materials, measurements, and the history and principles of architectural design.
Architectural Technology
These programs build on the technician curriculum and include a third year of advanced training. Depending on the institution, the final year may focus on deeper technical knowledge, additional software training, or specialized study in areas such as commercial detailing.
There are also specialized architecture programs available. For example, programs focused on sustainable or “green” design emphasize environmentally responsible construction, while combined architecture-and-construction programs offer training in estimating, building systems, codes, and other construction-related skills.
